TICC Hi! Street
This summer, we have laid on some exciting activities for you, all for FREE!
Come along on 7th July to enjoy an entertaining array of international and local artists performing at Grays High Street. Dress up in carnival costumes if you dare and join in some light-hearted fun with crowds on the street. Sing-a-long with the Thurrock Golden Voices who will be entertaining us with some well loved WW1 songs. Dance-a-long with New English Ballet Theatre mass participation dance workshop and The Meridian Society’s Shandong folk opera character to celebrate the contribution of the Chinese Labour Corps to The Great War.
The Indonesian Village is one of our highlights.
Laid out under the trees in the north end of the High Street will be a gamelan orchestra. Here you can listen to performances as well as participate in the soothing, transcendental activity of Javanese music making. There will also be the exciting Kecak, the famous monkey chant of Bali, performed by a chorus in syncopated harmonies. And if you are feeling a little curious, why not Gamelan-a-long with Jagat Gamelan!
At the Main Stage near the entrance to Grays Shopping Centre, local singer Angela Clarke will perform gospel and some familiar modern songs which everyone can join in and sing. Pamper your artistic streak by creating your own painting along the High Street. Adding some potent African creative power, Yaram Arts’ Yoruba Masquerade character will dance, accompanied by energetic African drumming.
